Granada Green Rectangle Pomegranate Plate

Granada Green Rectangle Pomegranate Plate

Handcrafted by Victor of family-owned Cerámica Arrayanes in Granada, Spain, this ceramic rectangular plate embodies the tradition of Fajalauza pottery. The Andalusian plate features hand-painted vines and a pomegranate—the symbol of Granada—set against a warm beige glaze. Each plate is one of a kind due to its handmade nature. We use them to serve appetizers, side dishes and desserts.

What’s Fajalauza? Also known as “Barro Granadina,” this Spanish pottery technique is renowned for symbolic motifs (like pomegranates and birds), vibrant colors and signature geometric patterns inspired by examples of Moorish architecture, such as Granada’s Alhambra. It dates back to the 12th-century Nazrid Dynasty, the last Muslim dynasty in the Iberian Peninsula before Sultan Muhammad XII surrendered his lands to Isabella I of Castile.
